The challenge
Too much for a standard Shopify store
Orangefit grew fast. New products, countries and languages were added, along with more and more systems that had to talk to the store: subscriptions, a loyalty programme and coaching memberships. On top of that, the team publishes a lot of content, from recipes to guides, in several languages. The store had to handle all of it and stay fast, and the content team had to be able to work in it on their own.

What we built
Shopify at the core, Next.js and DatoCMS around it
With my colleagues at Superhero Cheesecake I built a fully headless store: Next.js on Vercel, with Shopify for the shop and DatoCMS for the content. Firmhouse (subscriptions), Yotpo (loyalty), Klaviyo (email) and Virtuagym (coaching memberships) are connected to it.
Visitors search products and content at the same time. For that we use Algolia, which brings Shopify product data and DatoCMS recipes, blogs and guides together in one search. It works in every language and returns results within 100 ms.

The result
Fast, even on Black Friday
All Core Web Vitals are green: 1s LCP, 143ms INP, 0.02 CLS and a 0.2s Time to First Byte. The content team publishes pages and campaigns themselves. Busy days like Black Friday run without problems. I still maintain the store and keep building as the brand grows.

Next case: The Laundry Story
A headless store where stories lead to products
The Laundry Story makes laundry perfume and sells mostly on mood. I built a store where the team writes stories and links products to them.
